Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion DEI Committee

The CIPH Board of Directors Approves the Establishment of a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee

Objectives

We are thrilled to announce that the CIPH Board of Directors recently approved the establishment of a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee led by Kim Rutherford (EMCO) and we are seeking volunteers to serve with the primary purpose to advise, educate, and provide resources to CIPH and all members.  We want to encourage them to apply a diversity and inclusion lens to current CIPH policies, programs and services.

The Mission of this new Committee is CIPH’s commitment to being a leader and influencing positive change in diversity, equity, and inclusion within our association and throughout the plumbing and heating industry in Canada.

“This effort is crucial for the future health of our industry. According to McKinsey & Company, companies in the top quartile of gender diversity on executive teams were 25 percent more likely to experience above-average profitability than companies in the fourth quartile. In the case of ethnic and cultural diversity, companies in the top quartile outperformed those in the fourth by 36 percent.  People are truly any organization’s greatest asset. To attract a more diverse workforce, we must strive to:

    • Create workplaces in which all individuals are respected and valued;
    • Prioritize outreach, hiring, retention, and advancement of all individuals;
    • Implement unconscious bias and racial equity training; and
    • Share best practices to create and maintain diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplaces” reports CIPH Chair Matt Robinson (Robinson Supply)
